Would You Let Someone Go To Hell?

There’s a quote I’ve shared before, and every time I say it, I feel it in my bones.

Charles Spurgeon once said, “If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to hell over our dead bodies. Let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled with the teeth of our exertions, and let no one go there unwarned and unprayed for.”

That’s not just poetic. That’s our mission. It’s the kind of urgent compassion that should define us as the Church.

Because being part of the Church, really being part of it, means living out the mission. We’re not a building. We’re not a Sunday club. We’re not a lovely café with good lattes.

We are the people of God, committed to the heart of God, fueled by the mission of God.

It Starts When We Stop Pretending

The mission of God begins when we meet Jesus. It starts when we stop performing and surrender, when we lay down pride and admit that we can’t save ourselves.

The truth is, I fall short. So do you. The Bible says we all fall short of the glory of God.

And no one —not our spouse, not our kids, not our mentors —can save us. Only Jesus can.

    Why We Need a Substitute

Jesus didn’t just die. He substituted Himself for us.

Think of it like parenting. If you’ve ever had little kids, you understand substitutionary sacrifice. Their needs come first. You wake up before you’re ready. You lose sleep so they can rest. You give so they can grow.

That’s what Jesus did for you and me on the cross. He put our needs before His comfort. He took the punishment we earned and gave us His perfection.

When we say yes to Him, we receive His righteousness. We stand in right relationship with God because Jesus took our place.

If You’ve Never Said Yes to Jesus

If you’ve never made that decision, I want to invite you to follow Jesus today.

    Not someday. Today.

If you’re sitting in a service, turn to someone near you and say, “I want to follow Jesus.” And if someone turns to you and says that, don’t freeze. Celebrate it. Pray with them. Encourage them. Remind them it’s the best decision they’ll ever make.

    No Pretending. Just Purpose.

This isn’t about having it all together. It’s about saying yes to something bigger than yourself.

When we love God, love others, and make disciples without performance, we step into God’s plan for healing the world. The honest Jesus meets real people through us.

But it takes intentional living. It takes prayer, passion, and sacrifice.

A Prayer for Passion, Purpose, and Protection

    Heavenly Father,

We love you. We admit we fall short every day. But we want to say yes to you, again and again. Stir our hearts. Ignite passion for what stirs yours. Let your desires become our desires. Let your priorities become our priorities. Let our lives reflect your heart.

For those saying yes to you for the first time, protect them. Strengthen them. Fill them with your Spirit. Let Christ be seen in us. Around us. Beside us. Behind us. Saturate us with your presence.

Let your will be done here, as it is in heaven. In our homes. In our city. In this generation.

In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

    It Doesn’t End With Us

Right after this moment of prayer, we received a simple, sweet surprise from our kids’ ministry, a reminder that the vision of the Church must be multigenerational.

It’s not just about us. It’s about those who are coming after us. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams. Your young men will see visions. (Joel 2:28)

Let’s never forget that. Let’s pray for our kids. Serve them. Teach them. Pour into them. Let’s prepare them to follow Jesus with courage.

    It’s Time to Get Real

If you’re standing still in your faith, this is your wake-up call.

    ● Follow Jesus.

    ● Say yes.

    ● Let your life preach before your words do.

    ● Don’t let anyone go unwarned or unprayed for.

    ● Step into your purpose.

    ● Be the Church.

Because the world is desperate for the honest Jesus, and the Church is God’s chosen plan to introduce Him.
